Aussie Broadband Reports FY26 GHG Emissions and Outlines Climate Strategy

Aussie Broadband (ABB) has reported its FY26 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and outlined its climate strategy, including governance, risk management, and decarbonisation targets. ABB measures and reports its absolute gross Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and AASB S2 requirements.

Material actions and disclosures

During FY26, ABB generated 223.04 t CO2-e of Scope 1 emissions and 3,061.07 t CO2-e of Scope 2 emissions (location-based method), resulting in a total of 3,284.11 t CO2-e. The company’s Scope 1 emissions include direct emissions from company-owned or leased vehicles, stationary fuel combustion, and refrigerant leakage. Scope 2 emissions cover indirect emissions from purchased electricity used at offices, warehouses, and network sites.

ABB’s climate risk and opportunity assessment process uses data sources such as current and projected revenue, network infrastructure, staff health and safety incidents, and historical business continuity event reports due to extreme weather events. The company applies emission factors relevant to the nature of the emissions source, the applicable emissions scope, and the jurisdictions in which the underlying activity occurs.

At the end of FY26, 92% of the FY23 baseline sites had either been decommissioned or transitioned to accredited renewable electricity through GreenPower. ABB also installed 212kW solar PV panels at its Dandenong South office, generating 255,802 kWh of power, which covered approximately 40% of the site’s energy consumption for the reporting period.

Forward commitments

ABB aims to transition 100% of owned-and-operated sites to accredited GreenPower by 2028, supporting its broader emissions reduction approach. The company is currently developing its climate transition pathway, which will include consideration of future emissions-reduction targets, including the feasibility of setting a Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-aligned target.

The Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for overseeing the Group’s sustainability strategy, including climate-related risks and opportunities. The Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (ARCC) provides delegated Board oversight of climate-related risks and opportunities, regulatory compliance, metrics, verification, internal controls, and assurance readiness.

Aussie Broadband is preparing for its first mandatory climate-related financial disclosures under the Australian sustainability reporting framework. This includes assessing physical and transition risks, undertaking climate scenario analysis, and integrating climate-related risks and opportunities into the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and broader ESG Governance Framework.

These actions and disclosures reflect ABB’s commitment to climate governance and disclosure readiness, ensuring its climate response supports both mandatory climate-related financial disclosure requirements and ABB’s broader ESG strategy.
