Nanosonics has reported a 49% reduction in its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions during the fiscal year 2026 (FY26), marking a significant milestone in its decarbonisation efforts. The company’s Scope 1 emissions were 67.1 tCO2e, while Scope 2 emissions stood at 71.0 tCO2e, representing a substantial decrease from previous years.
Material actions and disclosures
Over the past two years, Nanosonics has reduced combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80%, demonstrating sustained momentum towards minimising emissions from its operations. This outcome reflects the company’s focus on delivering durable emissions reductions through structural changes to energy procurement and facility operations, rather than relying on short-term measures.
During FY26, Nanosonics achieved a significant reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, primarily due to the transition of major operations to renewable electricity sources. This shift has fundamentally changed the company’s operational emissions profile, with emissions associated with the electricity consumption of major facilities substantially eliminated.
Forward commitments
Looking ahead, Nanosonics aims to further reduce remaining emissions as technologies and renewable energy markets evolve. The company also plans to optimise its global manufacturing and servicing footprint to better align production, service, and distribution activities with customer demand, potentially reducing transport-related emissions and improving supply chain efficiency.
Additionally, Nanosonics has established manufacturing capabilities for consumables in Indianapolis, which is expected to reduce transportation distances associated with supplying consumables products to customers in North America and avoid future emissions that would otherwise arise from long-distance distribution from Australia.
These initiatives highlight the company’s commitment to embedding sustainability considerations into operational decision-making and scaling globally while reducing environmental impacts.
