Material actions and disclosures
GYG prepared its emissions inventory using the operational control consolidation approach, excluding franchisee-owned restaurants from Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The company reported Scope 1 emissions of 6,381 tCO₂-e for Australia and 776 tCO₂-e for the US, and Scope 2 emissions of 14,151 tCO₂-e for Australia and 647 tCO₂-e for the US. Total Scope 1 and 2 emissions for FY26 were 21,955 tCO₂-e.
GYG has trialled electric cooking equipment across selected corporate restaurants, including electric clam grills, combi ovens, induction cooktops, and electric fryers. The company has also developed a decarbonisation strategy to assess abatement opportunities and modelled the feasibility of reduction pathways aligned with planned growth.
Forward commitments
GYG plans to expand the electric cooking equipment trial and embed climate considerations into governance, risk management, and business processes. The company will continue to monitor emissions performance and review by management and the Audit and Risk Committee. GYG also aims to engage with suppliers to understand labour rights and fair work and to build awareness and capability across the business on human rights and modern slavery.
GYG’s decarbonisation approach identifies electrification as the highest-priority abatement opportunity, with complementary initiatives including low global warming potential refrigerant transition and energy efficiency upgrades. The company is actively managing electricity network capacity approval as a near-term constraint in some locations.
