DGL Group, a specialty chemicals and dangerous goods business, has outlined its enhanced ESG governance and plans for initial AASB S2 climate reporting. The company is a Tier 2 reporter under AASB S2 and is due to provide its first climate report for the period from 1 July 2026.
Material actions and disclosures
DGL has established a dedicated ESG and AASB S2 team to oversee its initial climate report. The company has also commenced its Ecovadis rating and continues to mature its ESG governance framework. Climate-related risks form part of the Board’s oversight agenda.
The company’s Environmental Services segment has seen a decrease in revenue from $77.1m in FY25 to $36.9m in FY26, primarily due to the closure of its loss-making ULAB processing facility in Victoria. However, underlying EBITDA increased from $1.8m in FY25 to $3.0m in FY26, reflecting rationalisation of overheads at the New South Wales ULAB processing site and the sale of the loss-making site in Victoria.
DGL’s system integrations have continued, with the implementation of a new group-wide HR and payroll system. The company has also completed civil works for the new liquid waste treatment plant at Unanderra, with full plant operation expected during H1 FY27.
Forward commitments
DGL aims to expand its liquid waste treatment capacity and apply for additional waste processing licences to increase the volume of liquid waste processed from external sources. The company also plans to optimise the facility equipment to process higher volumes of ULABs, targeting improved profitability.
The company’s focus on safety and high environmental standards remains a priority for the Board and management. DGL continues to enhance systems and process controls, invest in training, and maintain operations for further risk reduction.
DGL’s Environmental Services segment is focused on resource recovery and waste management, with core activities comprising liquid waste treatment and ULAB recycling. The segment operates a wastewater treatment plant at its New South Wales ULAB recycling plant to process liquid waste generated from its own plant and external customers.
The company’s Chemical Manufacturing segment produces a range of speciality chemicals and undertakes advanced formulation and contract manufacturing on behalf of third parties. The Logistics segment offers transport, logistics, and warehousing services focusing on dangerous and hazardous goods across Australia and New Zealand.
