Simonds Group has reported its FY26 greenhouse gas emissions and outlined its 20% emissions reduction target by 2035, alongside plans to enhance energy efficiency and reduce embodied carbon in materials.
Material actions and disclosures
The Group measures its greenhouse gas emissions using the operational control approach, consistent with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. For FY26, the Group’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions totalled 2,900 metric tonnes of CO2-e. The emissions include all entities and operations where the Group has operational control.
Simonds Group’s homes are designed to comply with the National Construction Code (NCC) energy efficiency requirements, with every new home design undergoing an independent energy assessment to confirm compliance with 7-Star energy efficiency standards across all orientations prior to market release. The Group also includes a standard solar photovoltaic (PV) system as a standard inclusion across its home range, which can be upgraded to accommodate larger energy requirements or additional fixed electrical appliances.
Forward commitments
The Group has adopted a 20% emissions reduction target by 2035, but has not yet adopted a net zero target or timeframe. The Group’s transition plan aims to deliver this target through product and design improvements, fleet and operations rationalisation, and energy procurement decisions.
Simonds Group will commence Scope 3 reporting for the financial year commencing 1 July 2026, in accordance with the phased requirements for Group 1 entities under AASB S2.
The Group will also consider the use of an internal carbon price as its climate risk assessment and transition planning capabilities mature.
Simonds Group’s climate-related disclosures have been prepared with reference to AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures, and the Group will continue to review the appropriate level of resourcing for climate-related activities as its reporting obligations mature.
