Growthpoint Properties Australia has achieved its Net Zero target for greenhouse gas emissions, covering Scope 1 and 2 emissions from directly held office assets and some Scope 3 emissions from corporate activities. The company reported a net emissions reduction of 76 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2-e) in FY26, with gross emissions reduced through energy efficiency, building optimisation, and renewable electricity procurement.
Material actions and disclosures
Growthpoint’s sustainability targets are designed to drive improvements in operational performance, resource efficiency, emissions reduction, and climate resilience. The company achieved a 11.6% reduction in natural gas consumption and a 1.4% decrease in electricity consumption, contributing to a 7.1% decrease in energy intensity across its portfolio.
The company also expanded onsite renewable energy generation, installing an additional 99kW of solar capacity at 75 Dorcas Street, South Melbourne VIC. This initiative supported reductions in grid-supplied energy consumption and emissions.
Additionally, Growthpoint achieved 100% renewable electricity procurement for operationally controlled sources across its 100% directly held office portfolio during FY26.
Key contributors to the Net Zero target achievement included increased investment in renewable electricity, ongoing generation from onsite solar systems, delivery of energy efficiency and capital improvement projects, and continuous building optimisation and performance monitoring.
Growthpoint retired 1,500 carbon credits during FY26, comprising ACCUs and VCUs, to offset residual emissions that could not be avoided or reduced through commercially viable abatement measures.
The company’s governance framework monitors progress against sustainability and climate-related targets, regularly reporting to management, the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (ARCC), and the Board.
Looking ahead, Growthpoint plans to maintain strong performance against external benchmarks, including GRESB, Green Star, and NABERS, and to continue supporting gender diversity objectives in line with its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy.
Resilience assessments based on climate scenario analysis indicate that Growthpoint’s strategy remains resilient across all scenarios, although adaptation measures and climate-informed asset management become increasingly important under high-impact scenarios.
These actions reflect Growthpoint’s commitment to sustainable practices and its ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance climate resilience.
