Elevra Appoints Chief Sustainability Officer to Address Material ESG Risks

Elevra has appointed a Chief Sustainability Officer to oversee its Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) strategy, addressing a range of environmental and social risks. The company has a material exposure to risks including health and safety, climate change, water and tailings management, and community relations.

Material actions and disclosures

The company has taken several actions to address these risks, including the appointment of dedicated HSE and Sustainability personnel in Canada responsible for identifying and managing environmental and social risks for the company’s operations in Québec. Elevra also works closely with local communities, taking their interests into account in project design and management, and implementing initiatives to support local community development and create employment opportunities.

Elevra has also disclosed its Corporate Code of Conduct, Whistleblower Policy, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy, ensuring that the board or a committee of the board is informed of any material breaches or incidents reported under these policies.

Forward commitments

Elevra aims to continue its efforts in managing environmental and social risks through ongoing monitoring and improvement of its risk management and internal control processes. The company will also continue to engage with local communities and stakeholders to ensure their interests are considered in its operations.

Elevra’s Audit and Risk Committee oversees a risk-based assurance program implemented by Management, receiving the results of these assurance activities and monitoring the timely remediation of findings.

Elevra’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee comprises four members, all of whom are Non-Executive Directors, with the majority being independent.
