CQE Adopts Charter Hall’s Climate Strategy and Governance Framework

Charter Hall Social Infrastructure Limited (CQE) has adopted Charter Hall’s climate strategy and governance framework, focusing on transitioning assets to renewable energy and reducing emissions. The REIT’s Board provides leadership and strategic direction, with a dedicated team of 10 employees leading sustainability initiatives, including diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and climate action.

Material actions and disclosures

CQE has partnered with Charter Hall to reduce emissions through investment in renewables and low-carbon materials. The REIT has also integrated ESG performance into short-term incentives for employees, including senior executives, fund managers, asset managers, and ESG specialists. CQE’s sustainability framework is informed by climate-related reporting requirements under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

CQE has adopted Charter Hall’s Risk Management Framework, which includes consideration of environmental and social value. The REIT has also adopted Charter Hall’s Sustainability Transition and Physical Risks Framework, focusing on reducing emissions and supporting communities. CQE has installed 1.4MW of solar capacity and offset Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions since FY24, including 100% grid-supplied renewables.

Forward commitments

CQE will continue to execute its long-term strategy focused on enhancing income resilience, targeting stable and ongoing capital growth, and disciplined portfolio curation. The REIT will also continue to integrate sustainability considerations into investment decision-making and asset management activities. CQE aims to improve energy performance across the portfolio and support communities with both immediate relief and long-term recovery following natural disasters.

CQE will continue to leverage Charter Hall’s climate strategy, targets, risk management policies, and procedures. The REIT will also continue to provide property and asset management services to CQE and operate its business in line with Charter Hall’s climate strategy, targets, risk management policies, and procedures.

CQE’s energy, emissions, and waste performance are disclosed in Charter Hall’s Sustainability FY26 Databook, prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The REIT is aligned with the Group’s approach to sustainability and net zero targets.
