Material actions and disclosures
The Group’s gross greenhouse gas emissions for the reporting period are as follows: Scope 1 emissions totalled 267.7 tCO2 from fuel use, and Scope 2 emissions totalled 320.3 tCO2 from electricity consumption in leased offices, resulting in a combined total of 588.0 tCO2. The Group does not currently measure Scope 3 emissions.
The Group has also reported on its environmental activities, including the planting of 5,777,911 trees. These activities do not claim offsets but are integral to the Group’s climate-related activities and opportunities.
The Board has determined that no climate-related targets be set at this time. The Group will continue to review its targets in line with stakeholder engagement.
Forward commitments
The Group will establish a framework for future climate-related scenario analysis to evaluate identified climate-related risks and opportunities over the short, medium, and long term. This analysis will model two distinct climate pathways: a 1.5°C scenario and a 3°C scenario, to test the resilience of its strategy and operations under a range of plausible climate futures.
The Group will continue to invest in acquiring customers in the renewable energy and renewable infrastructure sectors, although no amounts have been committed to date and the investment is expected to be immaterial to the expenditure of the Group.
The Group will monitor the financial performance, cash flows, and key performance metrics of these activities to assess the potential impacts on its business and operations.
The Sustainability Working Group (SWG) will report to the Board Audit and Risk Committee twice per year, providing updates on emerging climate-related risks and opportunities.
ACN’s sustainability report was reviewed by BDO Audit Pty Ltd, who concluded that the specified Sustainability Disclosures comply with Division 1 of Part 2M.3 of the Corporations Act 2001.
