The Lottery Corporation has adopted a net zero target for Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by FY30, aiming for an 85.5% gross reduction in emissions. The target is monitored by the Board and includes actions such as decarbonizing the electricity grid, transitioning to hybrid and electric vehicles, and purchasing Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs).
Material actions and disclosures
The company has already seen a 15% reduction in Scope 1 emissions in FY26 compared to the FY24 baseline, and 69% of its fleet is now hybrid or electric, up from 43% in the prior year. The company has also purchased LGCs to eliminate all remaining Scope 2 emissions.
The company’s main sources of Scope 1 and 2 emissions are transport fuel for its leased vehicles and electricity consumption at its corporate offices, warehouse sites, and concept store, with all electricity currently sourced from the grid.
Forward commitments
The company plans to provide annual Scope 1 and 2 emissions updates to the Audit Committee. The target pathway relies on assumptions regarding residual mix factors and fleet transition.
