Stockland Achieves Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 Emissions and Outlines Decarbonisation Targets

Stockland has achieved net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions in December 2025, marking a significant milestone in its decarbonisation efforts. The company has also outlined ambitious targets to halve Scope 3 emissions intensity by 2030 and achieve net zero across all scopes by 2050.

Material actions and disclosures

Stockland has implemented a range of lower-carbon procurement initiatives, including the use of low-carbon concrete, electric arc furnace steel, and sustainable timber solutions. These actions have been supported by engagement with suppliers and tenants to promote decarbonisation across the value chain. The company has also used renewable electricity procurement and Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) to offset residual emissions, and has retired Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) to offset residual Scope 1 emissions.

Stockland has continued to uplift governance controls to support consistent year-on-year intensity tracking and has focused on decarbonisation through energy efficiency, electrification, and renewable energy procurement. The company has also monitored the pace of decarbonisation of the Australian electricity grid and the availability of lower-carbon construction materials.

Forward commitments

Stockland plans to continue decarbonising operations and the value chain through energy efficiency improvements and electrification. The company aims to further reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by applying appropriate calculation methodologies and strengthening supplier and tenancy data. Stockland also intends to enhance Scope 3 disclosure as methodologies mature and maintain net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions through renewable electricity procurement mechanisms.

Stockland expects to halve Scope 3 emissions intensity by 2030 and achieve net zero Scope 1, 2, and all Scope 3 emissions by 2050. The company will use market-based instruments and offsets where technically and economically feasible and will assess the impact of external factors on decarbonisation targets and adjust strategy as necessary.
