TerraCom has reported its FY26 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and outlined its compliance with the Australian Government’s Safeguard Mechanism. The company’s latest emissions data shows Scope 1 emissions at 100,505 tCO₂e and Scope 2 emissions at 15,943 tCO₂e, with 100% of emissions attributed to the consolidated group.
Material actions and disclosures
TerraCom’s GHG inventory has been prepared in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. The company applies the operational control approach to define its reporting boundary, covering 100% of GHG emissions from the Blair Athol mine and associated facilities, as well as its corporate head office. The reporting boundary excludes TerraCom’s South African interests, which are not under its operational control.
Scope 1 emissions are measured using run-of-mine coal production tonnages reconciled to management production records, while Scope 2 emissions are calculated using the NGER Measurement Determination Method A1 grid-average emission factor for the Queensland electricity grid.
TerraCom’s GHG emissions data is supported by a documented value chain assessment and is integrated into the company’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Forward commitments
TerraCom aims to maintain compliance with the Safeguard Mechanism emissions baselines, which decline annually from FY2023 to FY2030. The calculated target for FY2026 was 100,000 tCO₂e, but actual emissions exceeded this by 505 tCO₂e.
The company plans to monitor and manage emissions performance against applicable Safeguard baselines, implement operational measures to improve emissions intensity, and acquire and surrender eligible carbon units where necessary.
TerraCom does not have a separate decarbonisation pathway beyond compliance with existing regulatory requirements.
These actions and commitments are part of TerraCom’s broader climate governance framework, which includes oversight by the Board and Committees, and the embedding of climate considerations across strategic, financial, operational, and compliance functions.
