SkyCity has announced its verified SBTi target to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 38% by FY30 against a FY15 base year. The company’s FY26 emissions were 12,532 tCO2e, marking a 23% reduction from the FY15 base year of 16,261 tCO2e. Despite the New Zealand government’s upcoming regulatory changes that will increase the mandatory climate-reporting obligation threshold, SkyCity remains committed to environmental responsibility and will continue to measure and disclose its emissions.
Material actions and disclosures
SkyCity’s New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) received EarthCheck Silver Certification in FY26, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability. The company also partners with REMONDIS to progress towards zero waste to landfill in Adelaide and has achieved a waste diversion rate of 34% at its Auckland and Hamilton sites in FY26, stable from FY25.
Forward commitments
SkyCity plans to expand Scope 3 data collection and reporting in FY27, prioritising its Adelaide site. The company aims to achieve 60% electricity efficiency and eliminate single-use plastics through a waste diversion plan, and strengthen host responsibility and build trust with communities and regulators.
SkyCity’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions are independently audited by Toitū, ensuring transparency and accountability in its environmental reporting.
