Simonds Group has reported its FY26 greenhouse gas emissions and outlined a 20% reduction target by 2035, alongside preliminary assessments of physical climate risks and opportunities.
Material actions and disclosures
The Group’s FY26 greenhouse gas emissions, measured in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard using the operational control approach, totalled 2,900 metric tonnes of CO2-e, comprising 1,840 metric tonnes of Scope 1 emissions and 1,060 metric tonnes of Scope 2 emissions.
Approximately 20% of FY26 site starts are located in areas with potential flood or bushfire exposure, based on preliminary internal analysis. The Group estimates that about 15% of contracts signed in FY26 included sustainability-related upgrades beyond standard inclusions, indicating growing market opportunities for energy-efficient and lower-carbon product offerings.
Simonds Group’s homes are designed to comply with the National Construction Code’s energy efficiency requirements, achieving 7-Star energy efficiency standards across all orientations prior to market release. The Group also completes a Whole of Home assessment for each design to ensure compliance with carbon offsetting requirements.
Forward commitments
The Group has adopted an emissions reduction target of 20% by 2035, without reliance on carbon offsets. The target is expected to be achieved through initiatives such as transitioning to lower-emission electricity procurement, fleet rationalisation, and working with key suppliers to reduce embodied emissions in materials.
The Group plans to commence Scope 3 reporting for the financial year beginning 1 July 2026, in accordance with the AASB S2 phased requirements for Group 1 entities.
Simonds Group will continue to monitor and refine its approach to climate-related risks and opportunities, incorporating these considerations into its enterprise risk management, strategic planning, and capital allocation processes.
