Resouro Strategic Metals Inc. is advancing its Tiros Project towards a Prefeasibility Study (PFS), including preliminary environmental impact assessments and metallurgical testwork. The company aims to optimize the flowsheet, improve beneficiation, and evaluate acid recycling opportunities to reduce operating costs.
Material actions and disclosures
The PEA mine plan schedules 9.53 Mt of high-grade material for processing over an approximately 20-year operating period at a nominal processing rate of 500,000 tpa, with an average plant-feed grade of approximately 26.3% TiO₂ and 10,852 ppm TREO. The proposed metallurgical process flowsheet integrates beneficiation, calcination, and hydrometallurgical recovery of both titanium dioxide and rare earth products.
The flowsheet comprises beneficiation, calcination at approximately 600°C, magnetic/electrostatic separation, acid leaching, and solid/liquid separation for recovery of the coarse TiO₂ concentrate, and acid sulphation, water leach, precipitation, and filtration for recovery of rare earths as a mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) product.
Forward commitments
The company plans to file the preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment with the ANM, conduct infill drilling, and generate additional samples for metallurgical testwork. It also aims to assess staged expansion scenarios beyond the initial 500,000 tpa operation, including future production in the range of 5 to 10 Mtpa, subject to technical, economic, permitting, financing, and market outcomes.
Resouro has engaged Sete Soluções e Tecnologia Ambiental Ltda to support project development in relation to permitting matters, including field reconnaissance, physical-environment studies, and qualitative flora surveys.
Final definition of project facilities and completion of environmental studies will be required to confirm the extent of environmental interactions and assess their materiality to the MRE, mine plan, and economic analysis.
Resouro has also engaged Carbon Hound Inc. to determine the company’s reporting disclosure for climate and greenhouse gas emissions.
Resouro’s second Sustainability report was published concurrently with the year-end, March 31, 2026, Financial Statements and MD&A.
