PDI has outlined its environmental and social management plans, including measures to mitigate risks and impacts on local communities and the environment. The company’s ESIA and ESMP provide a framework for managing environmental and social risks throughout the phases of development, operations, and closure.
Material actions and disclosures
The ESIA and ESMP include a range of management plans for environmental, socio-economic, and health and safety aspects of the project. These plans detail the risks or impacts that need to be managed, the measures to be implemented, and monitoring measures to determine the effectiveness of the management measures.
The ESIA also contains a conceptual plan for the rehabilitation, decommissioning, and closure of the project. The objective is to return the land to its pre-disturbance condition, suitable for pastoral and agricultural activities, through the establishment of a safe and stable post-mining land surface that supports vegetation growth and is erosion resistant over the long term.
The closure and rehabilitation plan includes procedures for temporary or sudden closure and maintenance and monitoring post-closure covering physical aspects of the project such as landforms, water, and biodiversity.
Forward commitments
PDI aims to continue its operations in compliance with all environmental laws and regulations. The company plans to conduct its operations and activities to high standards of environmental obligation, including compliance with all environmental laws and regulations.
The company also plans to review the Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP) to ensure that all people affected by the revised project footprint are appropriately considered.
PDI will continue to monitor and manage the risks associated with tailings storage facilities, including the potential for windblown dust affecting nearby communities.
These plans and commitments are part of PDI’s ongoing efforts to manage the environmental and social impacts of its mining operations and to ensure the safety and well-being of local communities.
