Paladin Outlines Environmental and Climate Change Risks in ESG Report

Paladin Resources has outlined its environmental management systems and climate change risks in its latest ESG report, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable practices and regulatory compliance. The report details the company’s approach to managing hazardous and radioactive materials, as well as its strategies for mitigating environmental and climate-related risks.

Material actions and disclosures

Paladin seeks to conduct its activities in accordance with applicable legal requirements, permit conditions, and recognized industry standards. The company implements environmental management systems and monitors water, air quality, land disturbance, waste, tailings, radiation, biodiversity, and closure-related matters to support compliance with applicable environmental and operating requirements.

Paladin’s operations involve the use, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and radioactive materials, which may result in actual or alleged impacts to land, water, biodiversity, or surrounding communities. Despite these risks, the company has implemented measures to manage environmental risks and impacts throughout the life cycle of its activities, from exploration and project development through to operations, closure, and post-closure monitoring.

The PLS Project completed the provincial environmental impact assessment process and was not designated for federal impact assessment. The project is subject to Canadian federal and provincial licensing and permitting requirements applicable to uranium mine and mill development. Paladin continues to advance applicable permitting, licensing, environmental management, and engagement activities for the PLS Project, including engagement with Indigenous communities and other interested parties.

Forward commitments

Paladin aims to comply with evolving environmental laws and regulations, which may become more stringent over time. The company expects to incur ongoing expenditures to maintain compliance with applicable environmental and operating requirements at its LHM site.

Paladin also acknowledges the risks associated with climate change, including physical risks such as increases in the frequency or severity of extreme weather events, and transition risks related to the global move toward a lower-carbon economy. The company is committed to managing these risks and ensuring the resilience of its operations.

Paladin’s approach to environmental management and climate change risk mitigation is detailed in its ESG report, providing transparency and accountability to stakeholders.
