Macro Metals has advanced its environmental management and Indigenous partnerships, aligning with ISO standards and fostering local employment and business opportunities.
Material actions and disclosures
The company’s environmental management is aligned with ISO 14001, covering land disturbance, dust, water, waste, and rehabilitation. Rehabilitation obligations are planned as part of mine planning rather than deferred to closure. Macro Metals also reports that 12.5% of its employees identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, with total expenditure with Indigenous businesses and suppliers significantly greater than in the previous reporting period.
Heritage surveys and clearances are completed ahead of ground disturbance in consultation with relevant Traditional Owner groups. The company’s majority Indigenous-owned joint ventures deliver local employment, training, and Traditional Owner business participation across contracts awarded to them.
Forward commitments
Macro Metals aims to secure additional work package instructions under its framework agreement with BHP and to convert submitted tenders and developing opportunities into awarded contracts. The company also plans to leverage its skills and capability to secure profit share and project equity interests in projects where Macro can add value throughout the pit-to-customer supply chain.
Macro Metals continues to evolve from an exploration-focused entity into an integrated mining services and resource development group, with a focus on exploration, development, and contracted works for third-party clients.
