Light & Wonder Advances Climate Risk Management and Operational Improvements

Light & Wonder has advanced its climate risk management and operational improvements in 2025, focusing on reducing environmental impact and enhancing supply chain sustainability. The company’s initiatives include the optimization of international supply chain routing to reduce unnecessary shipping miles, the establishment of a direct shipping route from China to the Philippines, and the continuation of its Drive Smart program to promote fuel-efficient driving behaviors across its fleet.

Material actions and disclosures

Light & Wonder has expanded its reporting boundary for greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the number of facilities in its inventory from 73 to 85 sites. This expansion includes capturing more sources of emissions, such as refrigerants and propane consumption, to provide a more comprehensive view of its environmental impact.

The company’s Eastern distribution hub in Illinois, which opened in late 2023, continued to deliver results in 2025, increasing its utilization from the 40–50% range to over 70%, enabling greater freight consolidation and more efficient distribution across the eastern US.

Light & Wonder also continued to advance its landfill diversion efforts, achieving a landfill diversion rate of 57% at its Las Vegas campus, reflecting meaningful progress in waste reduction.

Forward commitments

Looking ahead, Light & Wonder plans to deploy in-cab monitoring technology across its fleet to further reduce Total Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The company also expects to establish a West Coast freight consolidation hub, building on the success of its existing model to optimize logistics and reduce transportation impacts.

Light & Wonder is also evaluating opportunities to expand its electric vehicle (EV) pilot program, particularly in urban service areas where operational conditions are most conducive to EV adoption.

Light & Wonder’s efforts to enhance climate-related risk management include the initiation of its first climate risk assessment in alignment with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). This assessment evaluates potential physical and transition risks and opportunities across its operations and value chain, incorporating scenario analysis to better understand potential financial and operational impacts under different climate pathways.

Light & Wonder’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its ongoing efforts to embed sustainable practices across its operations and supply chain, including the optimization of international shipping routes and the expansion of its supplier due diligence program.
