Dexus Advances Climate Resilience and Decarbonisation Efforts

Dexus, a leading Australian property company, continues to focus on decarbonisation and climate resilience, with initiatives to reduce emissions, increase renewable energy, and manage flood risks. The company aims to achieve net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040 and invest $2 billion in the climate transition by 2035.

Material actions and disclosures

Dexus has completed 27 site-level physical climate risk assessments across the managed portfolio, focusing on flood risk in the Brisbane region of Queensland. The company has also completed decarbonisation roadmaps for 30 assets, with plans for 87 initiatives in progress. Dexus has invested $1.4 billion in the climate transition by 2026 and achieved a 60% improvement in energy intensity across the Platform since 2008. The company has maintained net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions for the managed portfolio since 2022.

Dexus has completed the development of its Embodied Carbon Emissions Framework, which aims to strengthen how the company benchmarks, measures, and reduces embodied carbon across developments. The company has also completed 15MW of onsite renewable energy generation and storage, and continues to source 100% renewable electricity for the managed portfolio.

Additional measures include the extension of carbon assessments across all material and key suppliers, and the incorporation of flood-resistant materials and resilient design features in developments such as Waterfront Brisbane’s North Tower.

Forward commitments

Dexus aims to maintain net zero on Scope 1 and 2 emissions for the managed portfolio, and achieve absolute zero with minimal offsets on Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040. The company also plans to continue to source 100% renewable electricity for the managed portfolio, and to strengthen the integration of climate risk assessment, adaptation, and impact quantification into business processes.

Dexus continues to develop and implement decarbonisation roadmaps for assets, and to enhance climate resilience through risk assessment, adaptation, and impact quantification. The company also aims to integrate climate action with business strategy through the Climate Transition Action Plan (CTAP).

These commitments reflect Dexus’s ongoing focus on decarbonisation and climate resilience, and its efforts to manage climate-related risks and opportunities across its portfolio.
