Brambles Limited has outlined its commitment to a 1.5°C climate future, setting out targets to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. The company aims to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and its Scope 3 emissions by 17% by 2030, compared to a 2020 baseline. Additionally, Brambles plans to source 100% renewable electricity for its operations through 2030.
Material Actions and Disclosures
Brambles has already made significant progress towards its targets. In the fiscal year ending June 2026 (FY26), Scope 1 and 2 emissions decreased by 5% due to the continued focus on electrification of forklift trucks and other fleet vehicles, as well as the purchase of renewable natural gas for heating and drying processes in the UK. Scope 3 emissions were 1% higher in FY26, largely due to higher pallet relocations and new pallet purchases in the US, but this was partly offset by lower transport emissions in Europe and Asia Pacific.
The company remains on track to achieve its 2030 science-based targets to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 17% compared to the FY20 baseline.
Forward Commitments
Brambles is committed to achieving 100% renewable electricity for its operations through 2030. This includes sourcing electricity from renewable contracts, onsite generation, and Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs).
Brambles’ climate transition plan is based on comprehensive modelling to project GHG emissions under a ‘business-as-usual’ trajectory and to define flexible decarbonisation pathways. The plan includes regional targets for each key decarbonisation lever, with annual milestones set to monitor progress.
