Australian Unity Limited has disclosed its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions for the financial year ended 30 June 2026, as part of its sustainability reporting under AASB S2. The company reported total Scope 1 emissions of 2,649 tCO2-e and total Scope 2 emissions (location-based) of 12,589 tCO2-e.
Material actions and disclosures
Australian Unity has been measuring and disclosing its GHG emissions since FY2024. The company has also been committed to managing and actively reducing its environmental impact through various initiatives, including the installation of solar across four aged care/retirement sites, expanded energy efficiency programs, and waste management initiatives.
Specifically, the company has implemented Buildings Alive, a building management software that helps track, predict, and minimise electricity, gas, and water consumption, across 12 aged care sites and other assets, reducing Group emissions by 300–400 tCO₂e per annum. Additionally, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has been installed at Campbell Place retirement village to support residents during outages.
Forward commitments
Australian Unity aims to continue its decarbonisation efforts, including the installation of solar generation, energy optimisation programs, and waste management initiatives. The company is also committed to continuous monitoring and management of climate risks in line with its Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF).
