Aeris Resources has published its first Climate-related Financial Disclosures under AASB S2, outlining its approach to managing climate-related risks and opportunities. The company has uplifted its NGER-derived emissions to include additional Scope 1 sources such as land clearing emissions, explosives emissions, and waste disposed to landfill emissions, providing a more complete representation of its emissions.
Material Actions and Disclosures
Aeris has measured its Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard (2004) and the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008. The company’s emissions are calculated using the methods, emission factors, and global warming potential values prescribed in the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008.
The company has also refreshed its enterprise risk management framework to include climate-related and psychosocial risks, and introduced a Risk Appetite Statement that defines the level of risk the company is prepared to accept across eight strategic categories. This framework is supported by the Aeris Risk Management Standard and the Climate Risk Procedure.
Forward Commitments
Aeris aims to disclose material Scope 3 emissions in the future, with the work commencing in FY27. The company also plans to refresh its sustainability strategy and governance framework to better integrate climate-related considerations into its strategic decision-making processes.
These actions are part of Aeris’ broader commitment to enhancing its sustainability practices and engaging continuously with stakeholders, reflecting its belief that long-term financial success requires understanding and managing sustainability risks and opportunities.
These disclosures and actions were attributed to Aeris Resources’ Sustainability Report and the Assurance Opinion provided by PwC.
