Wesfarmers has outlined its principal environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies and targets, focusing on diversity, ethical sourcing, and climate-related commitments.
Material actions and disclosures
The company has established a Diverse, Inclusive and Respectful Workplaces Policy to foster an inclusive work environment, aiming for a workforce composition of 40% women, 40% men, and up to 20% of any gender. Additionally, Wesfarmers has released its Ethical Sourcing and Modern Slavery Policy, designed to ensure compliance with local, national, and other applicable laws and regulations, and to meet stakeholder expectations regarding modern slavery and adverse human rights impacts.
Wesfarmers also sets out its Environment and Climate Policy, which includes near-term, long-term, and net-zero emissions reduction targets. The policy supports the company’s commitment to operate sustainably and comply with environmental laws and regulatory requirements.
Forward commitments
Wesfarmers aims to achieve a gender-balanced board by the next reporting period, with at least 40% women and 40% men, and up to 20% of any gender. The company also plans to continue its work to prepare for mandatory climate-related financial disclosures under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards.
Wesfarmers’ approach to sustainability and climate reporting is overseen by the Audit and Risk Committee, which reviews and certifies the Group’s risk management framework annually.
These policies and commitments reflect Wesfarmers’ ongoing efforts to integrate ESG considerations into its business practices and governance framework.
