Tyro Expands Scope 3 Emissions Inventory and Conducts Climate Scenario Analysis

Tyro Payments Limited has expanded its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions inventory and conducted a climate scenario analysis to assess potential risks and opportunities. The company’s FY26 report highlights the inclusion of three additional Scope 3 categories: Use of Sold Products, End-of-Life Treatment of Sold Products, and Investments, significantly enhancing its emissions measurement methodology.

Material actions and disclosures

Tyro’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions remain relatively limited, reflecting its predominantly office-based operations. However, the expanded Scope 3 inventory now represents the majority of Tyro’s reported greenhouse gas emissions. The company has prioritised establishing a robust emissions baseline and identifying meaningful emissions reduction opportunities.

During FY26, Tyro transitioned the Sydney head office floor housing its on-premises servers to a renewable electricity plan, with plans to extend this arrangement to the remaining office floors in early FY27. Approximately 80% of Tyro’s production workloads are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which reports it is one of the world’s largest corporate purchasers of carbon-free energy and has pledged to reach net-zero carbon by 2040.

Forward commitments

Tyro has not established formal greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets for FY26. The company will continue to measure, monitor, and disclose its Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, assess climate-related risks and opportunities, and periodically review the appropriateness of establishing emissions reduction targets as its understanding of emissions reduction opportunities continues to evolve.

Tyro’s business model remains resilient across the assessed climate scenarios, with no material impacts on financial performance or cash flows over the short, medium, or long term.

Tyro’s sustainability initiatives also include community engagement, such as supporting the Children’s Medical Research Institute through Jeans for Genes Day and offering registered charities and community groups discounted terminal rental and competitive fees for card payment solutions.

Tyro’s governance practices are aligned with APRA CPS510 and the ASX Corporate Governance Principles (4th edition), and the company maintains robust risk management, compliance, and reporting frameworks.
