Ramsay Health Care has updated its climate transition plan and targets, extending its net zero emissions goal to 2050 and focusing on Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The company remains committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and engaging with suppliers to encourage adoption of science-based targets.
Material actions and disclosures
Ramsay Health Care has made significant progress towards its near-term targets. As of 30 June 2026, the company had achieved a 31.3% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to the 2020 baseline. This progress is attributed to initiatives such as reducing emissions from anaesthetic gases and implementing energy efficiency projects.
The company has also installed over 53,000 LED lights across 47 projects in Australia and has generated more than 6.5 million kWh of renewable electricity in Australia and the UK since 2021.
Forward commitments
Ramsay Health Care has revised its long-term net zero GHG target to 2050, taking into account the current and anticipated commercial and operating environment. The company aims to achieve net zero Scope 1 and 2 (market-based) GHG emissions by 2050, instead of the previously set target of 2040.
Additionally, Ramsay UK and Elysium Healthcare will target net zero Scope 3 GHG emissions by 2050, reflective of regulatory commitments and the role played by the UK National Health Service in leading transition in that market.
