Inghams has set a target to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46.2% by 2030, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodology. The company is developing an emissions reduction plan for FY27, which includes initiatives such as additional solar generation, energy efficiency, and electrification options.
Material actions and disclosures
Inghams has already reduced its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 15.7% against the 2030 commitment of a 46.2% reduction. The company generated absolute gross greenhouse gas emissions of 72,210 tCO2 e in FY26, with Scope 1 emissions of 72,210 tCO2 e and Scope 2 location-based emissions of 128,422 tCO2 e.
Inghams is also undertaking water vulnerability assessments in FY27 and considering the impacts of climate-related physical risks on its operations. The company has included two new Scope 1 emissions sources in its GHG emissions reporting: wastewater emissions and poultry litter emissions.
Forward commitments
Inghams plans to finalise its emissions reduction plan in FY27 and integrate climate-related risks into its Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) in FY27. The company will also consider climate-related risks in capital expenditure approval processes from FY27.
