Black Cat Syndicate Limited Reports FY26 Climate-Related Financial Disclosures

Black Cat Syndicate Limited has released its FY26 climate-related financial disclosures, detailing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, climate risk assessments, and resilience strategies. The report covers Scope 1 and 2 emissions totaling 82,883 t CO₂-e, primarily from diesel consumption and land-clearing activities.

Material actions and disclosures

Black Cat’s FY26 GHG emissions were primarily attributable to diesel consumption across its mining and operational activities, purchased electricity, and land-clearing activities associated with the Fingals open pit development. The company applied recognised Australian emissions measurement methodologies for land-clearing emissions, estimating 16,634 t CO₂-e.

Black Cat’s climate risk assessment identified several key risks and opportunities, including extreme heat, water scarcity, severe weather events, and reliance on carbon-intensive energy sources. The company has implemented heat management procedures, workforce protection measures, and ROM stockpile strategies to mitigate these risks.

Black Cat’s resilience strategies include ongoing evaluation of energy efficiency initiatives, alternative energy solutions, and infrastructure resilience measures. The company also plans to continue assessing Scope 3 reporting requirements.

Forward commitments

Black Cat has not established any voluntary climate-related targets, whether absolute or intensity-based, during FY26 and was not subject to any legislative or regulatory requirements to do so.

Management considers that Black Cat maintains a degree of flexibility to redeploy, repurpose, upgrade, or decommission assets as part of its normal asset management, mine planning, and capital allocation processes.

Black Cat’s climate governance framework is still under development, with oversight of climate-related risks and opportunities integrated within existing Board and management structures.

These disclosures have been prepared in accordance with AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures, which is the mandatory Australian Sustainability Reporting Standard (ASRS).
