OD6 Metals has completed the acquisition of the Quinn Fluorspar Project in Nevada, expanding its environmental, social and governance (ESG) approach to include operations in the United States. The company’s sustainability strategy is proportionate to the scale and stage of its activities, focusing on regulatory compliance, safe workplaces, and minimising environmental impact.
Material actions and disclosures
OD6 seeks to minimise the environmental impact of its exploration activities through appropriate planning, regulatory compliance, and progressive rehabilitation. The environmental footprint of the company’s current activities remains relatively limited and is principally associated with exploration access, drilling, sampling, and associated field activities. Environmental requirements are assessed on a project-by-project basis and incorporated into exploration planning and permitting.
At the Quinn Fluorspar Project, environmental and permitting work has been deliberately commenced in parallel with exploration. The company has engaged specialist US permitting consultants and is working with the US Forest Service to progress approvals for future drilling and bulk sampling. Environmental baseline activities include biological and cultural-resource surveys designed to support both near-term exploration approvals and potential future development applications.
At Splinter Rock, exploration activities continue to be undertaken in accordance with Western Australian regulatory requirements, with rehabilitation incorporated into exploration programs. The company’s preferred processing pathway also continues to investigate heap-leach and associated processing technologies that have the potential to reduce grinding and energy requirements compared with more intensive conventional processing alternatives.
At Gulf Creek, activities are undertaken within the New South Wales exploration and environmental regulatory framework, with appropriate controls applied to drilling, access, and rehabilitation.
The health and safety of employees, contractors, and visitors remains a core operational priority. OD6 maintains health and safety systems appropriate to its exploration activities and the jurisdictions in which it operates. Contractors are required to operate in accordance with applicable legislation, site procedures, and relevant industry standards. During the reporting period, no material health and safety incidents were reported across the Quinn, Splinter Rock, or Gulf Creek projects.
As each project advances, the nature and scale of environmental assessment will increase accordingly.
Forward commitments
The company continues to review its sustainability priorities as its projects evolve and will progressively develop its systems and reporting requirements as projects move from exploration toward more advanced stages of development.
